What more beautiful tribute for a watch manufacturer than its creations are carried by some of the greatest post-war artists like the immense Jean Cocteau, or Colette and Maurice Utrillo? Universal Geneva had this honor, all these personalities appearing with one of his wrist chronographs.

The Universal Geneva adventure

Universal Geneva is mainly known for its chronographs and its complications. It took place a reputation such that Jaeger Lecoultre commanded him the direct production of finished chronographs for many years.

Numa Emile Descombes and Ulysse Georges Perret founded their mark in January 1894 in the Jura city of the Locle where they were from. The Locloise factory is particularly interested in the construction of chronographs in the 1930s with parts like the Compur and the aero-compax. But it was not until 1943 to see the appearance of one of its most emblematic watches: Tri-Compax, which we present to you today.

The tri-compax between elegance and complexity

The Tri-Commpax is called a triple astronomical triple chronograph, that is to say a chronograph 3 meters with which the days, months, dates and moon phase is associated. In this case, this model dates from 1955 and has the particularity of being said "waterproof" thanks to its screwed background and its pumps.

The movement, known as "two colors", is mechanical with manual reassembly with command of the chronograph by column wheel. It is equipped with caliber 281. Reliable and robust, it is, with the 285, one of the two calibers of which flow from all the other calibers of Universal Geneva.

The Tri-Compax: a collector's room

This chronograph is considered to be the most complicated, hence his nickname "glorious". It constitutes the perfect answer to the Killy in Rolex, the Valjoux 72C or 88 chronograph and the Chronographs Perpetual Quatte Ref. 1518 or ref. 2499 of Patek Philippe.

This is a rare watch, icon of watchmaking history. This is the perfect synthesis of a very well balanced complications watch, including information that is both readable and useful.
