The extreme watches according to Romain Rea & Zrc

Les montres de l'extrême selon Romain Rea & ZRC

The opening of our new shop in Courchevel was an opportunity to organize an exhibition on the theme of "extreme" watches, created to be worn in extraordinary conditions. It was in partnership with the ZRC manufacture, represented in the people of gentlemen Alexis Meyer and Georges Brunet, that we opened this exhibition on Thursday, March 7.

ZRC Manufacture: Life is an adventure

The ZRC brand was founded in 1904, in Geneva, by Edmond Zuccolo and Joseph Rochet, the workshop manager and his first worker. Initially known for her bracelets, she created the Grande Fond which equipped the French Navy from 1963 to 1974. As evidenced by George Brunet: " It indeed equipped not only the diving school of the French Navy, but also the divers-deminers of Toulon, as well as the very famous commando Hubert and certain divers of Calypso.”

With the reissue of La Grande Fonds, in June 2015, the ZRC watchmaking was reborn from its ashes, thanks to the intervention of Georges Brunet, grandson of Louis Brunet the father of the GF300. Associate since 2017 with Alexis Meyer they strive to follow their motto "Life is adventure". Thus, with the North Adventure, ZRC is free from this diving watch image, because it was developed to endure temperatures of extreme cold, among other things thanks to a specific treatment of its box avoiding ice from "hanging" as well as the use of a "vegetable" oil to deal with extreme temperatures. It was at the wrist of the Alban Michon explorer, that she proved her, during an expedition of 62 days between February and May 2018 on the legendary North West Passage in the Arctic.

Emblematic sports references according to Romain Rea

To complete these modern models, Romain Rea has selected a beautiful collection of ZRC Vintages to illustrate the history of the Swiss house. In addition, he also chooses emblematic professional watches of some of the largest factories, such as a Breguet Type XX, an Omega Seamaster Ploprof, a Rolex Sea-Dweller made for Comex and a Rolex Daytona Big Red.

Born in 1775, the Breguet Maison, as part of its partnership with the French army, has offered watches of extraordinary pilots since the early 1950s. The model we present dates from 1954 and responds to the heavy specifications imposed by the army, namely: Clarity and visibility of the dial with wide luminescent needles, a rotating and of course the "Fly back".

Our Omega Seamaster Ploprof is a contemporary reissue of the model designed in the 1960s. The latter is known for having been used by the team of Commander Cousteau during the Janus mission. Our model, being waterproof up to 1200m, is a serious threat to Omega competitors and is an essential tool for any professional diver.

As for Rolex, the Crown brand is renowned for having designed watches for the use of professionals: GMT for pilots, submariner and Sea-Dweller for divers, Daytona for car runners and explore it, as its name suggests, for explorers. A copy of each of these main categories can be admired, such as: a reference 6542 for the GMT, one of the oldest of the model, a Sea-Dweller Comex Ref. 16600 from 1997 and a steel daytona Ref. 6265 with a very beautiful Big Red dial from 1983.
