The notoriety of the Rolex GMT is well established. Worn by as many historical figures as celebrities, from Fidel Castro to Tom Selleck, she has experienced a growing renewal since Rolex revealed her new reference to Basel on Jubilee bracelet.
Today we have decided to present two references which, at first glance seem very similar, but well reflect the evolution of GMT at Rolex.
Rolex GMT 16750
Rolex GMT 16750
A watch for pilots
The 1675 appeared in 1959. It replaced the first reference of GMT, the 6542, which had probably been ordered by the Pan AM. To date, this is the reference with the most longevity since Rolex ceases to produce it in 1981 for the benefit of the 16750.
In this case, our two models have the same external aspect: a very beautiful matt dial, the Mercédès needles with the GMT needle, a beautiful Pepsi insert on the telescope ... Everything is done to guarantee simple and clear visibility to the wearer of the watch, with the indication of two time zones. The main difference, between the two references is the caliber. Rolex does not forget that the primary mission of its GMTs is to be at the service of the pilots and it is with this in mind that we go from caliber 1575 to caliber 3075 which integrates the fast date.
