On August 14, 1832, a 23 -year -old businessman in the Jura village in Saint Limier as an active partner of the COMPTOIR RAIGUEL young clockwork store, his name: Auguste Agassiz.

Health problems later force Agassiz to find out a successor, he finds him in the person of his nephew Ernest Francillon.

He renamed the company "E Francillon, Longines, Switzerland and some watches are present at the Paris Universal Exhibition.

In 1880 Francillon made an official patent application for his Longines brand from the Federal Office for Intellectual Property in Bern.
